Lansing woman shot, killed at fireworks show

July 5, 2012

A 34-year-old woman from Lansing died Thursday from a shot to the head from a stray bullet as she waited for the city’s fireworks show at Lansing’s Adado Riverfront Park on Wednesday evening, according to a release from Lansing police published by the Lansing State Journal.

Police responded to a call at about 9:45 p.m. from a man who said a woman was having sierzures near the boat docking area of the park.

After the woman was located by officials, she was transported to a local hospital. At about 11:14 p.m., hospital officials reported finding a bullet in the unconcious woman’s head.

At about 10 a.m. Thursday, she was pronounced dead.

Preliminary findings do not show the weapon was disposed of within a close distance of where the woman was found, police said.

Officials ask that if anyone has information about the incident they contact Detective Mark Lewandowsky at (517) 483-6859 or Crime Stoppers 483-STOP.
