Forward Kaminski out 4-6 weeks

September 17, 2012

MSU freshman forward Kenny Kaminski will be out four to six months after undergoing successful surgery on his right shoulder on Sept. 7 to repair a torn labrum, according to a release by the MSU athletics department.

Multiple reports indicate Kaminski tore the same labrum he tore during a football game while attending Medina High School in Ohio.

The 6-foot-8, 245-pound native of Medina, Ohio, likely will redshirt the season, pushing his four years of eligibility back by a year.

Kaminski was part of a highly touted recruiting class for MSU head coach Tom Izzo, which includes five-star guard Gary Harris.

During Kaminski’s junior year of high school, he averaged almost 20 points and more than 10 rebounds per game before missing much of his senior season with an injury.

The Spartans open up play Nov. 9 in Germany against Connecticut.
