Early rivalry possible between child stars
Trouble in tween paradise! Nope, not with Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers, but rather Dakota Fanning has gotten herself a bit of a reputation.
Apparently Dakota and her sister Elle were set to play the two leads in “My Sister’s Keeper,” a film about a girl realizing her parents had her just to have a genetic match for her dying sister. The film is set to star Alec Baldwin, Joan Cusack and Cameron Diaz.
Well, all was well until producers told Dakota she had to shave her head for the role. Apparently the 13-year-old threw a temper tantrum and not only backed out of the film, but took li’l sis Elle with her.
And whenever Dakota won’t do something, who do they call? Abigail Breslin! She will take over Dakota’s role with Sofia Vassilieva taking Elle’s.
There are two reasons why Dakota should be able to keep her tresses. One, she’s 13. Expecting a 13-year-old to shave her head is like expecting Victoria Beckham to eat a Quarter Pounder with cheese. Second, Dakota has been in about a jillion movies and she’s 13. She’s already got money in the bank.
What sucks for Dakota is that she’s going to be compared – once again – to Breslin. I’m curious how these two will pan out through the years. Lindsay Lohan and Hilary Duff? Who’s going to go to rehab? Who’s going to get knocked up? I vote Breslin’s Christina Aguilera to Dakota’s Britney Spears.
