West's music needs to be more original
I’ve figured out Kanye West’s songwriting formula: Ego + catchy, well-mixed beats + someone else’s material + more ego/over-the-top showboating.

Cleveland odd, but welcome choice for series
Fans of Seth MacFarlane’s animated comedy “Family Guy,” look out for a developing spin-off series focusing on Peter Griffin’s neighbor Cleveland Brown.
DJ genially remixes indie music
When an up-and-coming West Coast DJ produces for artists such as Akon, Flipsyde, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls and R&B artist Goapele, the results can be pretty great. When that same DJ remixes samples from Radiohead’s newest album, the results can be legendary.
Enter AmpLive, an experimental producer/DJ from the Bay Area. His sound spans drum and bass, mashups, breaks, house, electro and dance, and it evolves with his mood.
He remixed Bjork and it was love at first sound wave. I have no words to explain how awesome the Radiohead remix is. Of course, I tend to melt whenever pretentious indie rock and hot beats mix, as should you.
So, in other news, who wants to hook me up with a plane ticket to Los Angeles to hear AmpLive perform during spring break?
I guess for now I’m resigned to Internet-based AmpLive fixes. Check out him and his Radiohead mix for yourself at www.myspace.com/amplive.
