Loss of actor might be end for 'CSI'

By: James Harrison Posted: 04/21/08 9:19pm

There must be something in the water over in the world of “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.”

For those who don’t follow entertainment news religiously, in the past week it was announced that both Gary Dourdan of “CSI” and Khandi Alexander of “CSI: Miami” would be leaving their respective shows.

Dourdan’s departure is right on the heels of Jorja Fox’s departure from the series. Considering the series only has eight credited characters, the departure of the two represents a massive cast loss.

While the “CSI” franchise has lost actors before, this tidal wave of departures might determine whether the franchise has the staying power of the “Law & Order” series.

Considering “CSI” is about to hit its ninth season, perhaps this is a sign it’s time to hang it up.

After all, it’s best to leave the audience wanting more.
