Suton should be ready to go for Penn State
If you thought Goran Suton looked a little out of his element Saturday against Kansas, your instincts were correct.
The senior center was stymied by a stomach virus that left him, in the words of MSU head coach Tom Izzo, “sick as a dog.”
Suton said he did a little investigative work, and ascertained that he had probably acquired the flu the night before.
“I talked to one of the people that I hung out with the day before and they said they had the flu too,” Suton said. “I think it was the flu because I was burning up.”
Suton still played OK against the Jayhawks, finishing with six points and seven rebounds, but he only played 22 minutes, which is four minutes below his average since Big Ten began.
Fortunately, the Spartans didn’t need Suton at full strength for the Kansas game because others, namely Idong Ibok and Draymond Green, stepped up in his absence.
Despite a few lingering symptoms, such as a small appetite and light-headedness, Suton said he’s not concerned about his status for Wednesday.
“I’m working on it,” he said. “I’ll be ready to go.”
