Report: DeAnthony Arnett headed to MSU
According to multiple reports, former Tennessee receiver DeAnthony Arnett, who recently asked for a release from the university to be closer to his ailing father, announced Wednesday he will be attending MSU.
Arnett, who caught 24 passes and two touchdowns his freshman year with the Volunteers, is a Saginaw, Mich. native and a former ESPNU Top 150 player. After making the decision to leave Tennessee, he reportedly was looking at transferring to Michigan, Notre Dame or MSU.
When news of his decision to leave first broke, it was revealed Volunteers head coach Derek Dooley denied Arnett from joining the Spartans or Wolverines. However, the university released Arnett unconditionally Tuesday, making him available to any school, including MSU.
Arnett’s father has severe medical problems, which included suffering two heart attacks. With that, Arnett is likely to apply to the NCAA for a hardship waiver, making it possible for him to play for the Spartans immediately without having to sit out.
