No. 3-ranked Gomez lost in the semi-final round to Daniel Dennis, the no. 2 seed from Iowa. The match went into overtime and Dennis got the first take down 20 seconds into the period, ending the match with a 5-3 final score. Overtime periods in wrestling are sudden victory.

Franklin has been a tremendous athlete for MSU and for the sport itself. His discipline and character certainly make him one of the best athletes and wrestlers in MSU history. Even though he captured the 3rd place title this year, last year he brought the national title to MSU. After the 3rd place match Franklin got a standing ovation from the crowd (most non-MSU fans) and that really shows what he had done.
As I said, Franklin is a tremendous athlete and wrestler and he has a great future in the U.S. national wrestling team. We wish him the best.
