UConn women's basketball team could be best ever
In this season’s college men’s basketball world, everyone is talking about who’s going to run the table and who is the nation’s best.
First of all, enough already. Secondly, let’s focus our attention on a team that is also undefeated playing in another realm — the No. 1 Connecticut Huskies women’s basketball team.
The Huskies are currently 19-0 and are threatening to become one of the best women’s squads since — well — UConn in 2001-02, when they went 39-0.
Coach Geno Auriemma, in his quest for the school’s sixth national title, is an astounding 215-22 in his last seven seasons.
Auriemma is putting together another masterpiece that should be noted by basketball fans everywhere. The Lady Huskies have defeated five ranked opponents by an average margin of victory of 20.4 points. That’s something that Kansas and Memphis (the two unbeaten teams in the men’s world) can’t claim. UConn is averaging 83.3 points per game, while allowing 47.1.
They continue to chug right on along, with a 17-point victory at No. 20 Notre Dame, with two starters out with injuries! Starting guard Mel Thomas and starting forward Kalana Greene are both done for the season with ACL tears.
UConn still has five games against ranked opponents — including their last three (two of them against top-10 teams) away from home. If they can survive trips to No. 4 Rutgers, No. 14 Pittsburgh, No. 8 LSU and No. 23 DePaul (yes, four out of five are on the road), they will have made their claim as the best team in the history of the game.

Thanks for the great write-up.
Huskies fans are always concerned about the mojo, so you won’t se any UConn fans talking like this, but it is nice to know that outsiders see the same special team we see.
There’s a lot of season left, and we have to face that tough schedule without two of our starters, Kalana Greene and Mel Thomas, who went down with ACL injuries, but we hope to make a splash in post-season.

Yes we have alot to go especially with Rutgers and LSU two very tough teams. But if we stick to are game plan I think we will be alright. Our women our tough and very agressive on both ends of the court. They all do what they have to and all play like super stars.
