PAC-10 or SEC? We'll see this fall
One of the hottest debates raging throughout college football last season was whether or not the PAC-10 rivaled the SEC as the nation’s best conference.

Club sports great way to get involved
Athletic competition shouldn’t be limited to those competing on varsity teams. That’s what I determined after taking a look at MSU’s Intramural Sports and Recreative Services Web site.

Home game lineup not appealing
The MSU football team has been receiving high praises from national pundits and prognosticators, who are calling us the next Kansas or Illinois — teams that had breakout seasons last year.
MSU softball struggles to find groove
Win, lose, split a doubleheader, win, lose, split a doubleheader.
Wash, rinse and repeat.
For whatever reason, the MSU softball team can’t seem to shake what head coach Jacquie Joseph calls a “consistently inconsistent” pattern. If it’s not the Spartans’ pitching, it’s their hitting that suffers. Powerhouse hitters Nikki Nicosia, Kara Weigle, Bianca Mejia and Gina Mondo, among others, can only be relied upon so much.
Freshman Jessica Bracamonte came out of the woodwork to tally her first career home run during Sunday’s loss to Indiana, which Joseph said was wonderful but “all for naught.”
And senior Caitlin Mahoney’s been quiet since hitting her 24th career home run, which tied her with Dayna Feenstra for the second-most career home runs in MSU history. Mahoney’s either been walked or struck out as of late.
The amount of talent on this team is unreal — Mejia’s got a world championship under her belt — but until the team works cohesively, it will continue this roller-coaster of a season. During the preseason in Florida the team went undefeated, winning four straight. However, the Spartans dropped their next nine consecutive games before going on a six-game winning streak.
Whatever was working during that six-game stint, the Spartans have to get back to that focus both mentally and physically to end the season on a positive note. MSU battles Bowling Green today before Wednesday’s doubleheader against Oakland.
There’s still plenty of time to find a groove.
