Red Wings need to keep up intensity

The Detroit Red Wings certainly have had a season for the fans.

With 54 wins, the Wings are moving on to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. This could be the year to bring that coveted silver trophy back where it belongs — in Detroit.

But while the Red Wings are waiting to see who will be their next challenger on the ice, there are some things the team can reflect on from their series against Nashville.

Nashville was the team of fast turnarounds throughout the series, while Detroit seemed to be left reeling after the Predators’ goals.

But the Red Wings had many more shots on goal. If they keep making those attempts, their tenacity will pay off.

A team that takes advantage of any goal opportunity makes a stronger team than one that weighs each goal attempt and takes fewer shots.

Hopefully the Red Wings can bring their momentum into the Western Conference semifinals.
