  • Fantasy football, week 12

No in-depth opening this week, let’s get straight to my picks:

  • Early men's hoops awards

With my term coming to an end as an MSU men’s basketball beat reporter since the spring, I can’t help but still feel connected to the team.

  • Appreciating the great camera work

So after the blizzard that struck during the attempted second half of Sunday’s field hockey game, I have an extra appreciation for what our camera people do.

Fantasy Football - Week 6

Two to start:
Jason Campbell – Chances are if Campbell’s on your team, he’s your No. 2 quarterback and a very solid one at that. This week he plays the hapless, winless Rams and should produce like a No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Sammy Morris – Not only is he a New England running back, but he also plays the Chargers. A year ago those two scenarios would mean a definite no start, but with Tom Brady injured and San Diego struggling, Morris is a low-risk/high-reward play.

Two to sit:
DeAngelo Williams – Sure, he shredded Kansas City’s defense for 123 yards and two touchdowns last week, but there are two reasons not to buy into the hype. No. 1, just in case you forgot, Jonathan Stewart has been getting the bulk of the carries in Carolina. No. 2, Tampa Bay > Kansas City.

Roy Williams – Like the rest of the Lions, Williams has struggled mightily this year. He’s still a talented player and a fixture on my fantasy team, but not this week against Minnesota with the possibility of a backup quarterback throwing him the ball.

One to seriously think about:
Ravens D/ST – So far this year Baltimore has played with the dominating defense that has come to define them. This week they go against the Colts, who are historically a juggernaut offensively. Although Indy has struggled, I find it hard to believe that it will continue. Sooner or later, Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison will reconnect. I’m not saying it’s this week, but you never know.
