You know what they say. Sports are a business.

Welcome to the inauguration of The Biz — the all-knowing and all-telling sports blog that features news, notes, rumors and happenings concerning the business and administrative sides of sports. After all, it is a multibillion dollar industry that affects us all in one way or another.

I’m the sports administration reporter at The State News this spring and these blog entries will be in the same vein as the stories I write — cutting to the core of what happens outside the boundaries of the playing field.

If MSU head football coach Mark Dantonio receives a contract revision (like he did last month), you might read about it here. If U-M has to pay students to attend basketball games at Crisler Arena (which they’re practically doing this year), you can find details about that here.

T.I. donated $35 million to his alma mater, Harvard, for a new sports education center? Not true, but if it were to happen, you could read about it here.

Have something you want to read or know about? Send me an e-mail at nowakjo2@msu.edu and we’ll make it happen.

Until then, enjoy The Biz.

T.I. is more likely to donate $35 million to his local firearms dealer.
