Director of School of Journalism asked to resign
Updated Thu 3:48pmPamela Whitten, dean of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences, requested Thursday the resignation of Jane Briggs-Bunting, director of the School of Journalism and president of the State News Board of Directors, MSU spokesman Terry Denbow said.
Whitten was recently appointed as the dean of the College and assumed her new position yesterday.
“As Whitten assembles her new team, she has requested Jane Briggs-Bunting steps down,” Denbow said.
No decisions have been finalized about a replacement for Briggs-Bunting.
“Dean Whitten looks forward to working with Briggs-Bunting and all of the School of Journalism faculty to optimize an efficient transition,” Denbow said.

Rebuilding Brody

The complex will undergo a series of renovations beginning with a $49–million makeover to Brody Hall, which hasn’t had major renovations since its construction in 1952, said Vennie Gore, assistant vice president for Housing and Food Services.

MSU’s Multi-Racial Unity Living Experience, or MRULE, earned the grant from the Clinton Global Initiative University. MRULE supports Vumunzuku Bya-Vana — “Our Children’s Future” (VVOCF), a center for children orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS in Zonkizizwe, South Africa.
