Once a group of high schoolers from the hardscrabble city of Flint, former Spartans basketball players Mateen Cleaves, Charlie Bell, Morris Peterson and Antonio Smith came together for a run in the late 1990s unlike any MSU had seen. Ten years after leading MSU to its second national championship, the Flintstones remain forever connected to the city they call home. Read more »

Jenrette, Smith get jail time, three others get probation for Rather Hall fight

Former MSU football player Roderick Jenrette was sentenced to 90 days in jail, current MSU wide receiver Fred Smith was sentenced to five days in jail and three other former or current players received probation Friday for their role in a November 2009 fight at Rather Hall. Read more »

As of Tuesday, New Mexico State’s Jahmar Young, the Aggies’ leading scorer and second leading assist man said he had never heard of MSU junior guard Kalin Lucas. Maybe Young really never heard of Lucas, but his attitude reflects a confidence the Aggies have going into Friday’s first-round NCAA Tournament matchup in Spokane, Wash. Read more »
