Gallery: Union Rally at the Capitol
The Rev. Jesse Jackson speaks to a crowd on the steps of the Capitol Monday afternoon at the Reinvest in America: Keep the Dream Alive rally while people come forward with donations. Jackson called for an effort to raise $10,000 for a woman from Jackson who said she owes her mortgage company $13,000 and whose husband recently lost his job. Jackson was one of several people who spoke at the rally, hosted on the day General Motors Corp. declared bankruptcy, which called for the reindustrialization of America and an end to Michigan’s economic woes.
