MSU and The New Partnership for Africa’s Development received a $10.4 million grant to train African biosafety regulators on biotechnology so that farmers can grow healthier and more sustainable food.

The grant was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and was announced Thursday at the World Food Prize Symposium in Des Moines, Iowa.

The grant money will be used to hold workshops and give regulators up-to-date information to regulate biotechnology.
