The Michigan State wrestling team’s two highest-ranked Intermat wrestlers -- Chase Saldate and Caleb Fish -- have both completed transfers away from East Lansing, going to the University of Michigan and Oklahoma State, respectively.
The MSU baseball team played against the Niagara Purple Eagles in a home series this past weekend and won two of the three games, pushing the Spartans to 14-15 overall and 7-4 in home games. Michigan State basketball assistant coach Mark Montgomery has been hired as the new head coach at the University of Detroit Mercy, the school announced Wednesday. The 54-year-old Montgomery has spent two stints under head coach Tom Izzo, who coached Montgomery as an assistant over 30 years ago at MSU.
The game will be played at Jackson Field in Lansing, right near the Capitol downtown. This is the first of two games MSU will play at Jackson Field, as the Spartans will also play Western Michigan on April 17.
After a historic season for Michigan State men's hockey, the rewards for the past season continues to shower down as head coach Adam Nightingale received a nomination, along with nine other NCAA hockey coaches, for the Spencer Penrose Award for National Coach of the Year. The award is gifted by the American Hockey Coaches Association.
