Prof. could face lesser charges

College of Veterinary Medicine assistant professor Patricia Schenck, charged with felony neglect of 10 or more animals, could plead guilty to a lesser charge Friday, Clinton County Prosecutor Charles Sherman said.

No leads regarding stolen permits, police say

Several university parking permits have been “pilfered” while being sent through the mail, MSU Police Assistant Director Tony Kleibecker said. Kleibecker said at least four multi-car parking permits, complete with a suction cup to move them from car to car, were reported missing from the sealed envelopes sent by the department to members of the MSU community.

Apartment fire under investigation, injured firefighter back to work

The East Lansing firefighter injured during a fire at Ville Montee Apartments, 241 Rampart Way, Thursday night is back to his normal work duties, East Lansing Fire Department Public Information Officer Lt. Leo Allaire said. An investigation is still underway to determine the cause of the blaze that damaged a total of eight apartments. Six apartments had damage due to both fire and smoke, while two others only had smoke damage, Allaire said.

Man’s fatal fall from Albert Parking Ramp spurs investigation

A 25-year-old Lansing resident died Sunday morning after reportedly falling from the top of the parking ramp off of Albert Avenue. East Lansing police found the man in front of the entrance to the CVS Pharmacy, 240 M.A.C. Ave., public parking entrance, according to a press release from the East Lansing Police Department.
