Reported intruder spotted in Yakeley dorm room

An unknown person reportedly was in the room of two sleeping MSU students in Yakeley Hall on Saturday morning, MSU police said. Two female students were sleeping in their Yakeley Hall dorm room at about 4:20 a.m. when the 19-year-old roommate said she noticed someone next to their door, MSU police Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor said.

Man suspected of shootings released

Monday, around 9:20 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle thought to be carrying the I-96 shootings in Kentwood, Mich. Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wrigglesworth said a police transport van taking prisoners to Grand Rapids passed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s car, and police later pulled the car over and took the driver in for questioning. However, Wrigglesworth said it was the wrong man, and he was released a couple hours later. Wrigglesworth said there are no new reports regarding the suspect, who is reported to be involved in more than 20 shootings that have occurred between Oct.

I-96 shootings investigation continues

The Ingham County Sheriff’s Department held a press conference today releasing more information on the search of the suspect in the shootings on I-96. Police currently are in search of the suspect involved in 25 shootings that have occurred between Oct.

Shooting spree continues over weekend

Police are investigating two more shooting incidents from Saturday, which are part of a series of more than 20 shootings that have occurred along the I-96 and M-52 corridors. Media reports indicated police gathered evidence from one of the Saturday shootings, which involved a victim being shot in the buttocks while driving near the borders of Ingham and Livingston counties. The man reportedly thought he had blown a tire and pulled over, later realizing he had been shot when his buttocks was wet from a wound.

Backpack stolen at MSU

A 19-year-old male student had his backpack stolen from outside East Akers Hall on Sept. 10. The student said he had left his backpack on a bench outside while he skateboarded, and he forgot his backpack when he re-entered East Akers Hall, MSU police Sgt.
